先日、朝日新聞の「乳がん「見落とし」４０代３割」という記事について取り上げました。

「The Digital Advantage」と題して、従来のフィルムによるマンモグラフィーに比べて、デジタル撮影、デジタル処理のできるデジタルマンモグラフィーが有用であるということを、実際の患者さんも登場して取り上げています。
大学病院のサイトということもあって、事実をきちんと述べたスカッと気持ちのいいタイトル＆内容です。↓

朝日新聞の記事に書かれていた、
「日本では、乳がんにかかる人は４０代が最も多い。だが４０代は乳腺密度が濃く、マンモグラフィーに腫瘍が映りにくいといわれている。一方、エコー検査は乳腺の濃さに影響されにくく、２０～４０代の乳がん発見に効果が高いと期待されている。」
という記事に関して、ここでは、「デジタルマンモグラフィーを使うことによって、乳腺密度が濃い若年者でもマンモグラフィーでの診断精度を上げることができる。」と明快に述べられています。

日米では同じ年代でもずいぶん体格差もあり、一概には言えませんが、こうして外から見てみることによっていろいろな考察をすることができることを改めて感じました。
