Ｎ９５マスク

　ほんの10年前にはこのマスクはほとんど知名度がありませんでした。私が当時勤務していた病院でも主に結核患者発生時の対策としてこのマスクを数個常備はしていましたが、ふと思い立って調べるまで、この名称の意味さえ知りませんでした。今ではマスコミでもけっこうこの名前は無造作に登場するようになりましたが、時代は変わるものだな、とは思います。

　ちなみに、「N」は耐油性が無いことを示し（Not resistant to oil）、「９５」は試験用の0.3μmの粒子の95%以上を通過させないことを意味するのだそうです。この上に「９９」とか「１００」なんてものもありますが、９５でもぴったりつけたら息がしんどいのに、１００なんかどのくらい肺活量と横隔膜の強さがいるんだろう、と思ってしまいます。フィルターを通して息をするのは大変なんです。
　もし「Ｎ９５マスクをつけても楽に息ができる」人がいたら、その人は非常に呼吸能力が高いか、マスクが顔面に密着していなくてその隙間から空気が出入りしている可能性があります。
　なお、ウイルス自体の大きさは「0.3μm」よりも一桁小さいのですが、ミストとなって空中を漂っているときには0.3μmくらいの粒子径になっているそうです。

　なおこのマスクには、つけ方や外し方の“作法”があります。
つけ方については「N95 マスクフィットテストビデオ第2章」（YouTube）などをどうぞ。

　こうやって動画ですぐに確認できるとは、良い時代ですねえ。
