毒薬

　「毒を薄めたものが薬」ということばがあります。逆に、どんな良薬でも限度量を超したらそれは毒になります（別に薬でなくても、塩を１トンなめたり水を一気に１トン飲んだら死にますけど）。
　ところが、誰がどう見ても明らかに「毒」でも、堂々と薬として流通しているものがあります。たとえばツボクラレン（筋弛緩剤）。もともと運動神経を麻痺させる毒（現地ではクラーレと呼ぶんでしたっけ？）として狩りの時に矢などに塗って使われていたものが現在「薬」として使われています。神経を麻痺させるからその結果呼吸運動が止まるので、ある意味“正しい”使い方とは言えます。
　それどころか「毒」と明示してある「薬」もあります。「ボツリヌス毒素」です。これ、強烈な毒です。計算上はボツリヌス毒素１ｇで約100万人殺せるそうで、地上最強の毒素、とも言われます（青酸カリは経口投与の場合１ｇで５人“しか”殺せません。もっともマイクログラムレベルで人を殺すためには相当厳密に秤量する必要があるので、ボツリヌス毒素１グラムで100万人ぴったりを殺すのは現実的には無理だとは思いますが）。
　日本ではこれまで、痙性斜頚（首の筋肉の硬直で頭が傾いでしまう）や眼瞼痙攣・顔面痙攣に用いられてきました。筋肉を麻痺させることで痙攣や斜頚を改善させるわけです。
　ところがハリウッドではけっこうな人気がある毒でした。スターの若返りに愛用されていたそうです。これを注射するとそこが麻痺してしわ取りになるのです。ただし効果は永続的ではなくて、数ヶ月ごとに注射が必要です。一度お客をつかんだら良い儲け口……げふんげふん、何でもありません。
　で、日本でも最近“その用途”で使用許可が出ました。保険は効きませんが「眉間の縦皺」を消すために使用することが認められたのです。私の予想では、顔や首筋のあちこちにある「眉間の縦皺」を消すために、様々な人がその使用を求めることになるでしょう。そんなにあちこちに「眉間」があったかどうかは存じませんが、世の中、理屈通りには進みませんから。

　そうそう、ドイツでは良性前立腺肥大に対してボツリヌス毒素が有効、という研究があるそうです。何を思って使ってみたのでしょうねえ。

　ボツリヌス毒素の眉間の縦皺を消す効果を使い、美容漫画を描いたことがあります。それこそ、わざわざハリウッドまで行って施術したというストーリーだったのですが。
　この施術の副作用に、顔面麻痺というのがあります。多少、顔が麻痺しても、美人は大笑いなど大きく顔を崩すことは少ないでしょうから、あまり問題にならないかも。
　副作用を恐れ、私は施術する気にはなりません。が、、、顔写真の皺取りは、PC上でじゃんじゃんやっちゃいますぅ。うふっ。

あまりにつるんとした「美人」に魅力を感じるかどうかは自信がありませんが、本人が自信を持てればそれで良いのでしょうね。
