タイトル履歴
2008年４月に「医師アタマ」という本の存在を知り、あまりに似ているので本ブログのタイトルを「いしあたま（医師頭）」から「転がるイシは苔むさず」に変更しました。ただ、前のタイトルへの愛着捨てがたく、同年５月31日に「転がるイシあたま」に再変更しています。

我が家のメラミン
中国のミルク混入で有名になったメラミンですが、我が家にもメラミンが存在しているのを息子が発見しました。ごく少数のメラミン食器が食器棚にあることは私も知っていましたが、それ以外に「メラミンスポンジ」という形で。このスポンジは、水を含ませて絞ってから軽く拭くだけで汚れがみるみる取れる、という優れものなのだそうです。我が家のにはさらに重曹も最初から含まれていて、ますます効果がありそうです。ちょっと調べてみると、食器だけではなくて網戸を綺麗に掃除するのに絶大の効果、と報告しているサイトもありました。なんでも使っているうちにまるで消しゴムのようにすり減っていくのだそうです。ということは気になるのはそのカスというか飛散する微粒子ですが……
そこで、素朴な疑問ですが「メラミンって、なに？ 本当に危ないの？」。

によると……
物質名は「Melamine; ,3,5-Triazine-2,4,6-triamine」で、構造式は「Ｃ3Ｈ6Ｎ6」……なるほど、「Ｎ」が多いからメラミン樹脂の原料をミルクに混ぜるとタンパク質が多いと分析機を錯覚させることができるわけですね。（そういや昭和の昔（それも相当昔）、日本のある酪農家で、牛乳を“増量”しようと水で薄めてそこにデンプンを加えて見た目を誤魔化していた、という証言を聞いたことがあります。どこでも発想は似ているんだな） で、健康情報では「メラミンの毒性は低い。反復ばく露は膀胱結石とその他の尿路病変を引き起こす。雄ラットのみに膀胱結石による長期の刺激後に膀胱腫瘍が生じる。メラミンは遺伝毒性を持たない」とあります。

には、根拠は書いてありませんが「メラミンの毒性は食塩の２倍程度」とあって、尿中で不溶化して石になることが問題、とあります。

には「メラミンは毒性は低いとされ、米食品医薬品局（ＦＤＡ）はメラミンの１日摂取耐容量を、体重１キロあたり０．６３ミリグラムとしている。今回問題となった中国の粉ミルクには、最も高い製品で１キロあたり２５６３ミリグラム、それ以外の製品で同０．０９～６１９ミリグラム含まれていた。」とあるのですが……これって「メラミンの毒性は低い」と言っていたはずが、「体重１キロ」と「製品１キロ」とを同じ段落に混在させることで、単純に数字だけ見る人には「今回のメラミン含有食品は大変危険」と印象づける効果を出していませんか？ たとえば「１歳の乳児の体重とミルクを飲む量からの危険性の計算」は具体的にできるはずですが……まあ、毎日新聞ですから、この程度の科学センスと日本語品質の記事で十分なのかな。
※過去に「メラミン食器は危険」運動が一時ありました。私の記憶では最初は「環境ホルモンだから危険」だったのが「環境ホルモン」自体が死語になって下火に（環境省が環境ホルモンのリストをいつの間にか削除したことは以前書きました。「
飲用水に医薬品残留
」）。「メラミン食器からホルムアルデヒドが溶出するから危険」という意見もありましたが、実は自然食品の方がよほどたくさんホルムアルデヒドを含んでいることがわかってこれも下火に。
「危険の可能性がゼロではない（でも現実問題としては対策は不必要）」と「実際的に危険（対策を立てる必要がある）」とはできるだけきちんと区別する必要があると私は考えます。そして、こういった「運動」に関しては、節目節目に中間“決算”をするべきではないか、とも。
で「我が家のメラミン」ですが、別に“追放”はしません。食器やスポンジを食べる予定はありませんので、そのまま本来のお仕事で役立ってもらいます。

メラミンの食器を咬んでも、メラミンモノマーやシアヌル酸やホルムアルデヒドが人体（または犬体）に有害なだけ出てくるとは思えませんが、マスコミの報道ではそのへんをあいまいにしていますね。わざとなのか、それとも無知なのか、どうでもいいやといい加減なのか、そのへんの“有害さ”は気になります。（ちょっとマスコミに厳しすぎるかな？）
