　ガン保険

　広告を見ると「あ、自分がガンになったとき役に立ちそう」と思わず保険に入りそうになってしまいます。でも、この保険に入るということは「自分がガンになったら100％告知を望む」と覚悟を決めている、ということですよね。あるいは家族がこの生命保険に入ったら「ガンになったら告知をする」ことを。
　何も聞かされてなくて保険金の支払いがすなわち告知になるってのは、変です。ガンの告知はしない、でも、ガン保険の保険金は受け取る……これ、技術的には可能かもしれませんが、心理的には難しいんじゃないかしら。それに、告知せずにこっそりお金が受け取れたとしても、もしそれが本人に知れたら基本的な信頼関係が破壊されてしまうような気がします。
　保険を申し込む前に、まずは自分の覚悟をもう一回確かめ、それから自分は告知されたいか、家族に告知したいか、家族は告知されたいか、そのへんをきっちり確認しておく必要がありそうです。

小生は逆に、がんの告知をしないことを誰が考えて始めたんだろう、とよく不思議に思うのですが....自分なら限られた残り時間を必死で有効に有用に生きたいと思いますが。
昔の有名なお話の、高僧に告知したら後悔するようなことになってしまった、ということあたりでしょうか。

　あのお坊さんの話はたしかにもっともらしく説得力がありますが、エビデンス（？）があるのかな、とも思います。
　たぶん「誰」というのは特定は困難でしょうね。「悪い知らせの使者」になりたくはない、という暗黙の了解から、なんとなく「告知は避ける」風習が生じたのではないでしょうか。
