B: 了解。救助ヘリをすぐ呼びましょう。

A: 見つかるまで待てないのか。本部に彼女の居場所を教えなくてはいけないだろ。現在地は。

B: はい。北緯35.5度、東経138.2℃です。

A: なんか変なことになっていないか？

B: そうなんです。救出されるべきは彼女じゃなく、私たちなんです。

― Who should be rescued? ―

A: Just as I thought… Where did she disappear to?

B: I knew she would.

A: What’s she up to?

B: What else is new?

A: Our mission is search and rescue operations. We’ve got to contact our headquarters at once.

B: Certainly. Let me call a rescue helicopter right now.

A: Can this wait until we find where she is? We must let them know the spot where she is.

B: Sure. We are now at 35.5 degrees north in latitude and 138.2 degrees east in longitude.

A: I feel something outrageous going on.

B: That’s it. It is not she who should be rescued but we.

A: ...

B: The battery of our cell phone has run down.

「なるようになれ」

―Whatever may Happen Happens.―

こうして大地に寝そべっていると、変わらない日々の仕事のことを考えてしまいます。

このまま自然の摂理に身を委ねると、借金はどうなるのかな～。

― Whatever may Happen Happens. ―

　Spreading myself on the ground looking up at the sky makes me think of the same daily routine.

　If I resign myself into natural providence, what will happen to my debt?

　Let's not go there.

　It’s easy to say whatever may happen happens, but bitter to pay it back.

A: We’ve come to the deep mountain just for company though, before very long she’s going to get us in trouble.

B: I hope she is not injured in an accident.

 　

A: By the way, is the clinic all right?

B: I don’t know. I think she’s forgetting it.

　I wonder if I gave a lot of people trouble, giving up my duty to wonder around the forest.

「ピクニック気分で」

― Just Like a Picnic ―

おにぎりをどうぞ。

え？。。。これですか？ これは「おしんこ」です。で、こちらは梅干しです。

　ほら。こんなふうに、おにぎりの中にも入っています。

　ほかの二つには、それぞれほかの具が入っていますが、食べるまでは、ひ・み・つ。食べた時のお楽しみ。

白と赤のコンビネーションは日本の国旗の象徴、美しい「日の出」を表しています。

「美しい日本」というスローガンを掲げながら、突然首相の座を投げ出した日本の元首相もいました。誰しもが当たり前と思うこと言っただけでしょう。でも、当たり前すぎて顰蹙（ひんしゅく）を買ったと言うのが本当のところかもしれません。

突然の辞任表明に驚いたのは日本国民でした。諸外国の人々にとっては、「あ。またか。」で、美しい日本の無責任を印象づけただけでした。

後ろでにぎやかな足音がします。イノシシたちが走っていると落ち着かないわ。

― Just Like a Picnic ―

　Please enjoy your Onigiri (rice balls).

　What? These ones? Those are slices of ‘Oshinko’, pickled Japanese radish and these are ‘Umeboshi’, pickled Japanese plums.

　Look. You can see here like this in Onigiri.

　The different ingredients are inside the other two. But those are secrets until you try them. That’s part of the fun of it.

　The combination of white and red is a symbol of the national flag of Japan, which represents the beautiful Rising Sun.

　Many people still remember that the former Japan Prime Minister who employed the slogan of ‘a beautiful Japan’ had quitted all of a sudden. I suppose he only said what anyone would take it for granted. But in fact it may have been frowned at because it was all too common.

　It was the Japanese people that were surprised at his sudden announcement of resignation. People in other countries said “Oh, not again.” and just had an impression of irresponsibility of a beautiful Japan.

　I hear heavy footsteps behind me. I don’t feel comfortable when boars are running.

「山の主に捧ぐ」

 ― Dedicated To the Deities of Mountains ―

おいしい日本の伝統的なランチをどうぞ。ここで食べますか？それともお持ち帰り？どちらでもご自由に。粗茶もどうぞ。

日本では、お茶をお客さまに出すとき、お茶とは言わず粗茶といいます。粗茶とは、少量のお茶のことで、おいしいと喜ばれるほどではなくても、適当に作ったと思われるほどマズイお茶ではなく、日本人独特のプライドと謙遜を表現しています。欧米では数や量に敏感でありながら、曖昧な表現を好み、「いくらかの（some）お茶（tea）」というのでございます。

山の主様におかれましては、そのようなことはどーでもいいこととお察し申し上げます。それでは、そちらがお召し上がる前に、わたしがちょっと味見させて頂くことにします。

ん～～～おいしい。。。くつろげるぅ～。

え？おいしいお茶の入れ方でございますか?

話せば長くなるのではと存じますが、このお茶に使用した水は、東京下町の水道水でございます。

　水道水は浄水器でバクテリアや汚れをろ過し、竹の炭の破片のたくさん入った容器に注ぎます。数分後に、銅製のヤカンに入れて、都市ガスで沸騰殺菌し、15分ほどとろ火でトリハロメタンのような発がん物質を蒸散させます。お湯を、ティーバッグの入った耐熱性ガラスのティーポットに注いで、1分後にティーバッグを取り出します。

　できた熱いお茶を室温で自然冷却します。そのようにして作ったおいしいお茶を、こうしてこのピンクの花柄の水筒に入れてお持ちしました。

　あ・・。おにぎりもありますよ。

　ほんとに、大きな熊って、ガゥっていう以外、何かほかに気のきいたことが言えないのかしら？

― Dedicated To the Deities of Mountains ―

　Help yourself to a delicious Japanese traditional lunch. For here or to go? Just as you like. And please feel free to have ‘So-cya’ (some tea).

　We say So-cya instead of O-cya when we serve tea to the guest. So-cya means some tea, which is not so delicious that you can enjoy but not so bad that you feel it’s slapped together, which expresses the Japanese pride and humilities. In Europe and the United States, people are sensitive to the concept of number and volume but like the vague expressions such as ‘some tea’.

　I suppose you would say that you couldn’t care less because you are one of the deities of mountains. Then I’m going to taste a little bit before serving it to you.

　Mmm…It tastes good… I feel at home.

　What? Do you want to know how to make good tea?

　I’m afraid it’ll be a long explanation, but I used tap water in Tokyo downtown for making this tea.

　Tap water is filtered by water purifier to remove bacteria and the dirt. Filtered water is put into a vessel containing many flakes of bamboo charcoal. A few minutes later, it is boiled and disinfected at 100℃ with town gas in a copper kettle and heated on low heat for about fifteen minutes until carcinogens like trihalomethane evaporate. Pour the hot water into a heat-resistant teapot containing a teabag, and lift a teabag out of it 1 minute later.

　Prepared hot tea is cooled at room temperature. I made good tea like that and brought it now to you in this pink-flowered canteen.

　Oh. How about these ‘Onigiri’ ?

　Come on. I wonder if a big bear has any other spicy words instead of growling.

「よした方がいいかも」

― Better Not. ―

あー。とうとう樹海に来ちゃいました。

「それで終わり? とても残念です。ストーリーがここで終わってしまうなんて。」と、心配してくれる人は、この土日残念ながら一人もいませんでした。

さりとて、「それはいいことだ。エムスリーがすっきりする。」と喜ぶ人も幸い一人もいませんでした。そこで、これからどーしようか迷っているわたしは、いったい何しにここへ来たかというそもそもの動機に立ち返らなくていけない羽目になったのでした。

アルプスの人里離れた山奥には、人がいません。たまにいても、山男くらいしかいません。

「山男よく聞けよ。街の娘にゃ惚れるなよ。♪一旦惚れると友人を失くすぞ。全部じゃないけれど。」

こんな悲観的な歌を合唱しなければならない理由は何なんでしょう。

やめた方がいいかも。

「いいか。山男よく考えろ。街の女にゃ貢いじゃだめだぞ。いったん貢ぐとすっからかんになるぞ。全部とは言わないけれど。♪」。。。

時にはそうゆーこともあるかも。

ま。それはさておき、樹海を歩き回ると、お腹も空いて喉も乾いてきます。

― Better Not. ―

　Ugh, I’m finally in an ocean of forest.

　Unfortunately this weekend no one cared enough to say “Is that it? It's really too bad the story is over.”

　But fortunately no one was pleased to say “That’s a good idea. It will make M3 blog simple. Then I have to go back to the initial motive what I’ve came here for while I am wondering what I should do.  

　Remote part of the Alps is unpopulated where we can find ‘Yama-otoko’(climbers) every once in a while.

　“♪Listen, Yama-otoko, you may fall in love with an urban girl, but once you begin, you’ll lose your friends if not all. ♪”

 I don’t know why they are singing in chorus such a pessimistic song in mountains.

Better not.

　“♪You know, Yama-otoko, think twice before you finance an urban girl. Once you did, you’ll lose all you have if not all. ♪”…

Things like that sometimes happen.

　Well, whatever, now that I wandered from place to place in the forest, I’m getting hungry and thirsty.

 「かくなる上は」

 ― When It Comes To This… ―

こうなったら最後。しかたがないわね。

いろいろな妖怪どもと仲よくなるしかないわ。

たとえば、

「普段何を食べているの？」 とか、

「いつもどこで休んでいるの？」とか、

「気軽に楽しめる場所はあるの？」とか。

「恋人いるの？。。。あそ。」とか。

そこいらあたりの個人情報を聞き出すと、妖怪といえども自分を忘れて本音を出してしまうものです。

でも、しょせん個人情報って、なにか特別の目的、たとえば治療とか、売り込みとか、儲け話とか詐欺に使われる以外は、それ自体は面白くもなんともないです。

なぜ熊やイノシシがウロウロしているか。事情があるに違いありません。

必要もないのに関心があるふりをして個人情報を聞くのは失礼です。

たしかに、関心がないふりして目線をそらして病歴を取るのも問診における大切な技術ですが。

― When It Comes To This… ―

　There's no other alternative. That’s the way it goes. We have to make friend with them, speaking to them like this:

“What kinds of food do you like?”

“Where is your resting place?”

“Do you have a favorite place to enjoy?”

“Do you have someone special?...I see.”

　When they are asked about individual information, nearly all of Yokai say the truth beside themselves.

　Each of individual information itself is not interesting at all except when those are used for special purposes: treatment, sales, moneymaking scheme or cheating.

　What bears and boars are prowling for? There must be some reason.

　It’s impolite of you to ask about it when you don’t need it, as if you were concern of it. It’s one of important techniques in questioning the patient to take the history as if we are not concern about it by avoiding eye contact.

　How can I joke around here? I’ve got lost in an ocean of forest.

　I’m in a terrible pinch now.

　I’m finished. I can’t write my blog any more.

　I can’t answer your comment.

　　　　　?

　But, it’s OK? That’s too much.

心配しなくていいわ。神戸の市議会じゃないし。

じゃ。白い大蛇は？

だいじょうぶ。大牟田市じゃないし。

ハチは？イモ虫は？

もう来ているかもしれないわ。後ろに。

― A Wild Boar Is Coming Now!―

　Would you like outdoor life?

　When you see the Alps inhaling the clean air full of negative ions, you can forget about all troubles and quarrels in Downtown.

　A wild boar is going to attack me?

　Take it easy. Here is not the Kobe City Council.

　Then, how about a white huge serpent?

　Don’t worry. It appears only in Omuta City.

　Then, how about a cluster of bees, or, a green caterpillar?

　Those are coming now after me.

― Left Brain That Doesn’t Work In Forest ―

このうっそうとした森と草木の原野に入り込むと、

空はとっても遠いんだって分かるわ。

うっ。首筋に触れるこのざわざわした感じは何？

な～んだ。ささの葉か。びっくりした～＾＾；

たいへん。このまま夜になったらどうしましょう。

このままだとヤバイ。

熊が目の前に現れたら最後です。

知らんぷりするか、逃げるか。。。

二つに一つです。

またですか？二者択一のぴんち。

どっちなの？

でも、もうこうなったら運命だと思うしかないわ。

もういいじゃん。考えるだけでゾッとするでしょ？

もうどうしようもないわ。

― Left Brain

　　That Doesn’t Work In Forest ―

　While we hike into a wilderness of dense forest and thick vegetation,

　we realize the sky is far away.

　Ugh! What’s that creepy feeling of something brushing against my neck?

　Oh. That’s just a bamboo leaf. It scares me!

　　　　　?

　Oh, no. What should I do when night comes?

　If this goes on as it is, that's hairy.

　What can I do if any bear gets in my face?

　I have to either pretend not to notice or run away.

　It’s an either-or choice.

　Not again the pinch of alternative judgment!

　Tell me which!

　But only one thing to do is to think it was fated.

　Forget it. It's a frightening thought, isn’t it?

　We can’t help it.  This is an ocean of forest. It's not the place where we can be lost in thoughts.

右がいいと言う人もいれば、左のほうがいいと言う人もいるけど。

じっと座っているなんて、わたしに似あわないし。

おとなしくしているなんて、わたしに似あわないわ。

西に病人がいれば行って看病したり、東に口論があると言えば、ヤメるよう言って差し上げたりならなんとかできるけれど、もの静かで、お人よしで、褒められもせず苦にもされない気にもされない普通の女なんて、わたしには似合わないでしょ。

そもそも、右か左かって、誰が言い出したの?

わたし？…ごめんなさい。

　 　

真ん中の道なんてないのに。。。

だから言ったでしょ？

― Who thought of it? ―

　Do you have any exciting thing in your mind?

　Someone insists that the right is sure to good.

Meanwhile others insist the left is better.

　Tell me which.

　It isn’t like me to sit still.

　It isn’t like me to keep quiet.

　It’s not so hard to take care of a person when people say he’s fallen ill over there, or to discourage him against fighting when people say there broke out the quarrel somewhere.

　But I think it’s not like me to be one of the common ladies who are too quiet and unduly generous, without being praised nor hated nor noticed.

　Right?

　What made you come up with such an idea of which is better, ‘right or left’?

　Me?..... Oh. Sorry.

　There’s no choice of the middle way...

　Didn’t I tell you? We’ve finally got lost in an ocean of trees inhabited by a lot of ‘yokai’.
