Yu-Na Kim (KOR) wins Ladies’ Short Program

Yu-Na Kim of Korea took the lead ahead of Japan’s Mao Asada and Canadian Joannie Rochette in what was an exciting, high-level Ladies’ Short Program in Vancouver.
Kim seduced the crowd as a sexy “Bond girl”. Her routine to a James Bond soundtrack medley featured a rock-solid triple Lutz-triple toeloop combination, a triple flip and a double Axel. The world champion picked up a level four for her three spins and the spiral sequence and a level three for the footwork to post a new record and personal best score of 78.50 points (44.70 element score/33.80 program component score).
“I felt comfortable and I was able to enjoy my Short Program today. Mao skated perfectly. I was a little worried, but there was no pressure”, Kim said.
Performing to the powerful “Waltz Masquerade”, Asada nailed an effortless looking triple Axel-double toeloop combination, a triple flip and a double Axel. The 19-year-old is currently the only woman to perform a triple Axel in competition.
She earned the same high levels for her spins, spiral and footwork as Kim and had a seasons best score of 73.78 points (41.50/32.28).
“I’m very relieved. This is the best Short Program that I’ve skated this years. I tried to stay calm. I practiced my Short Program a lot and trusted myself to pull off the triple Axel”, Asada told the press.
韓国のキム・ヨナが、バンクーバーでの手に汗握るハイレベルなレディス・ショートプログラムで、日本の浅田真央とカナダのジョアニー・ロシェットを抑えてトップに立った。
キムはセクシーな「ボンド・ガール」を演じて観衆を魅了した。彼女の規定演技はジェームスボンドのサンドトラックのメドレーに乗って、堅実にトリプルルッツ-トゥループ・コンビネーション、トリプルフリップ、ダブルアクセルを演じた。世界チャンピオンは、三回転とスパイラルの連続でレベル４、フットワークでレベル3の評価を得て、78.50ポイント（技術点44.70ポイント、構成点33.80ポイント）の世界新記録と個人の持つベストスコアを獲得した。
「満足しています。今日はショートプログラムを楽しむことができました。真央が完璧な演技でちょっと心配しましたが、でもプレッシャーはありませんでした。」とキムは言った。
浅田真央は、パワフルな「仮面舞踏会」を演技して、無難に三回転半ジャンプ、ダブルトゥループコンビネーション、トリプルフリップ、ダブルアクセルを成功させた。この19歳が、今、競技でトリプルアクセルを演じられる唯一の女性である。
彼女は回転とフットワークでキムと同じ高い評価レベルを獲得して、今季最高の73.78ポイント（技術点41.50構成点32.28）のスコアーを出した。
「とてもほっとしました。今年滑ったショートプログラムで一番の出来です。冷静になるように努めました。ショートプログラムはじゅうぶん練習したので、三回転半ジャンプに成功するという自信がありました。」と、浅田は報道に答えた。
