―So sad! ―
何と悲しいことでしょう。
残酷なことです。
ネットを駆け巡る悪夢のようなハイチの惨劇が、
日本の街並みに重なるように
錯覚するのはわたしだけ?
ハイチの街は崩壊して戦場のよう。
そこには、虚ろな目で肉親を捜しながら
通りをさまよう無数の人々。
あるものは放心状態、
あるものは助けを求めて叫ぶ。
頬はすでに脱水と空腹で血色を失いかけている。
東京の夕暮れの街を
人ごみにまみれながら歩きながら、
もしも今マグニチュード7.0の地震が襲ってきたら。。。
そんな悪夢にふと囚われて。
地面は揺らぎ、
ビルの谷間にガラスが舞い堕ち、
崩れる街並みに逃げまどう人々、倒れる人。
東京下町の平和な風景は一瞬にして
この世の悪魔のカオスに豹変するかもしれない。
元気だった60代の患者が緊急入院しました。
脳梗塞でした。
病院のＩＣＵを出て、見舞いの帰り。
道行くにぎやかな話し声の
空虚さに疲労感を覚えた。

Is it my illusion that many of photographs
reflecting the tragic event in Haiti
running about on the Net
seem to be overlaid on our street?
The city of Haiti was devastated like a battlefield.
There were thousands of people wandering streets
looking for their relatives with a vacant stare.
Someone is absent-minded,
and others crying out for help.
Their cheeks were nearly sallow
with thirst and hungry.
While I was walking along the street
in the city of Tokyo jostled in the crowd at twilight
a nightmare occurred to me
that an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 just strikes Tokyo.
The earth shakes
and broken panes fall
raining down on the street
and people run about
and their bodies fall down in a collapse of buildings
and then a peaceful scene of Tokyo downtown
might change all at once
to a devil chaos on earth.
A sixty-year-old outpatient
who had been fine and active was taken
to hospital one week ago.
He was diagnosed with cerebral infarction.
Getting out of the hospital
after visiting ICU, I found myself tired
to hear empty sound of cheerful chat on the street.
