Musculoskeletal Infection
Ultrasound Clinics - Volume 2, Issue 4 (October 2007)
・FUOや人工関節部位の疼痛あれば疑う。
・Total knee arthroplasty =0.5% to 2%だが、chronic medical conditionsやステロイド内服中revision arthroplastyでは10%？
・ 起因菌＝Staphylococcus epidermidis (30% to 43%), Staphylococcus aureus (12% to 23%), mixed flora (10%–11%),%), Streptococcus species (9% to 10%), gram-negative bacilli (3% to 6%), enterococci (3% to 7%), and anaerobes (2% to 11%)（人工肩関節ではPropionibacterium acnesも）
・ 病型
① Early （術後 3ヶ月以内）
② Delayed （術後3 to 24 ヶ月）
③ late infection （術後24ヶ月以降）：血行感染のことが多い：局所からの波及もあり得ると思われるが
delayed/late infectionとhardware failureの区別には細菌学的検査とともにエコー（おそらくPETも）有効。
