ガテン系って、知ってました？

・本日、札幌で開かれている産業衛生学会２日目。先日も書きましたが、学会参加はいろいろ勉強になります。一つには、当然、最先端の知識・トレンドが学べることです。二つ目に、いろいろな医療展示や書籍がみれること。三つ目は、いろんな人たちと交流（新しい「人脈」）ができること。

・本日学会後、１６人くらい？で、交流会をしました。そこに参加していた保健師さんが、ガテン系が好きと自己紹介の時いわれていました。最初ラテン系ということかなと思っていましたが、「ガテン」でした。どうも建設業や土建の現場労働者のことのようです。

日本語俗語辞典によると、以下のようなことだそうです。

ガテン系とはリクルート出版から出ている就職情報誌『ガテン』からきた言葉で、『ガテン』が対象としている土木・建築・ドライバー・メカニック・調理師など技術職や現業職及びそれらに従事する人を意味する（単に肉体労働者という意味で使われる場合もある）。
情報誌『ガテン』は1991年に創刊。当時・、ガテン系は『3K』と言われ人材不足に嘆いていたが、職場環境の改善や高給優遇といった雇用側の企業努力もあり、創刊から数年後にはガテン系の職種にも人が集まるようになった。

・ところで、本日午前の学会で、「アスベストによる健康障害と対策ー過去、現在そして今後」というシンポジウムに参加しました。私は、そこでフロアーから、２点発言しました。一つは、臨床医学と産業医学の乖離について：アスベストの危険性は産業医学では２５年以上（私が医者になったとき）からわかっていたのに、その知見を臨床医が知らなかったこと。産業医学の知見が臨床医学に反映されない、この乖離を埋めることができないか？・・・臨床研修の義務化になったから、産業衛生学会が、研修医向けに職業性疾患のミニマムといったパンフレットでも作れないか...二点目は、行政は後追いであり、あらたな物質や作業方法がでてきたとき、あらかじめ学際的/縦割りでない行政の協力で健康障害のリスクを評価できるシステムができないかといった発言をしました。はじめの点について、北海道の内科学教室におられた先生は、昔、日本の最初の６価クロムによる肺がんを経験されていたようで、最初は若い労働者の肺がんが続けて受診され、原因がわからなかったが、同じ工場の労働者であることが分かり、あとから産業医学の文献でクロムの発がん性を認識したといわれておりました。そしてクロム、アスベストと同じことが（いまのままでは）繰り返されるんじゃないかとおっしゃっておられました。・・・とりあえず、学会の場で、わたしの問題意識をうったえることができました。（これとは、別にどうようなことを学会の場で他の研究者にもお話しすることができました）

・学会参加は良いが、臨床系の学会には今年の内科学会を除いて、ほとんど参加していないなあ．．．
