・石綿関連疾患として中皮腫や呼吸器疾患が問題とされていますが，後腹膜繊維（化）症も石綿が関連しているという文献があります．
・後腹膜線維（化）症というのは，医学書院 医学大辞典2003年によりますと，
「retroperitoneal fibrosis ・・・後腹膜に非特異性炎症性線維増殖を来たし，管腔臓器を圧迫することにより症状を呈する．・・・」といったものです．
・Lancetに以下の様な論文がありました．

・この中で，石綿は後腹膜線維（化）症のrisk factorであり，この疾病を職業性疾患と認めるべきであると明言しておりました．
・これをみて，わたしは厚生労働省に「このような論文がでていますが，どう考えられますか」といったe-mailを2005年10月に送ったのですが，「厚生労働省です。 ご質問を受付いたしました。内容によっては回答までに時間を要する場合があることをご了承ください。」という返事が戻ってきたのみで，その後の回答がありません．
・後腹膜線維（化）症は，めずらしい病気のようですが，この疾患をみられたDr.には，ぜひ詳しい職歴聴取をしていただきたいものです．
・ところで，ほんの思いつきですが，自己免疫性膵炎という原因不明の疾患があります．後腹膜線維症を合併することがあるといわれていますが，石綿が自己免疫性膵炎に関与していると言うことは無いでしょうね？と，考えるのも，日頃，疾患が原因不明と言われている場合，どれほど環境・職業因子が検討されているのか疑問をもっているからです．
